Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Exposure Comment: Like usual Opal is our poster child when it comes to social posts, her skills and ability to adapt makes her very versatile and she catches on to new skills very easily (not to mention she is so photogenic!). Since it was talk like a pirate day today the trainer got a costume on to Opal and did a little photo shoot around the property! This isn’t just all fun and games though, while doing this she is working on her impulse control as she had to sit still not only for the costume but also for the photos! She also utilises her basic obedience skills like drop and stand and sit as well as some touch targeting to get better photos, almost like model posing for a photo shoot! she was awesome as usual and the trainer had a blast working with her again today. Focus: Manners A
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: With her pirate outfit today the trainer took her through some routines using some basic obedience skills. The skills she was taken through today were drop, sit, recall, place, spin, roll over and high five. She had a blast this session doing her skills but to challenge her today this session was done outside with lots of distractions and while she had her pirate outfit on (without the hat of course!) she smashed this session showing off her skills to the trainer who as usual had the best time training her. Working on her skills on sequences like this will better improve not only the skills themselves but also command compliance. Focus: Obedience A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her final session today the trainer knows how much she loves climbing on things so thought they would test her today with the pirate themed “walk the plank!” Skill! The trainer got a board and had it propped up against the fountain outside, Opal then was lured up the plank and back again! The help stabilise the plank the trainer had their foot on the back end and Opal was able to go up and back every time without hesitation and without loosing her balance! She really is the queen of the 7 seas! ARRR! Focus: Repetition B+
