|We focused on
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)
|Comment: For her first session today the trainer noticed she was being a bit cheeky with her loose lead walking and her drops, she was pulling on the lead a little and wasn’t keeping her drops for very long so the trainer decided to do a refresher course with her on these two skills. To start they took her back to the classroom where they got her nice and focused on the trainer to help with the loose lead walking, this was all that was required for this skill, something was just throwing her off a little (Most likely the weather) and so she just needed a little reminder and she was following the trainer amazingly! It was a similar story for her drops, initially she was struggling a little so the frisbee brought back in the lure, however they only needed to do this twice before she was making super quick progression moving from the classroom all the way out to the car park with ease! The one thing the trainer noticed today was that she really doesn’t like doing skills on wet grass and avoided it as much as possible so realising this and not asking too much from her on wet grass going forward and training her in more comfortable environments will yield better results!
|Skill learnt: Trick Training
|Comment: For her next session the trainer changed up her tricks and so did something she hadn’t done in a while and worked on her “play dead” skill also known as “bang-bang”. It had been a while since she had done this and so the trainer first had to get her to go on her side again first before doing the other steps in this skill. This was a challenge for her today, she already struggles a little to roll over so, this is the reason the trainer wanted to do bang bang as it requires her to be on her side but not roll over. Most of the session today was worked on getting her to go on her side, she locks her front right leg which doesn’t allow her to move all the way over on to her side. Initially the trainer had to give a helping hand and push that leg in when luring her over, however close to the end of the session she caught on and started to go on to her side, the trainer was even able to phase out the lure this session! This was a great session for this skill, while she didn’t do the full skill she made some great steps towards this skill again today, a reminder that when skills aren’t kept sharp with constant training she may forget parts of the training and going back to the start is the only way to help her get back to where she was at before.
|Focus: Back to Basics
|Skill learnt: Trick Training
|Comment: Since she has been making nothing but progress with parkour the trainer wanted to work a little bit on this skill to start with to make sure she doesn’t go backwards. She yet again got even higher today with her jumps! She was so high in fact that she almost fell over the top of the wall run! This was so amazing but also due to the humidity today they didn’t want to over work her, so like her previous session the trainer did a little more work on a older skill to help remind her and worked on sit pretty! Just like the previous session she needed a bit of a refresher course however she was super quick to pick up on it today so the frisbee was able to work on a little more duration in this position! She still needs a bit more work especially with phasing out the lure but she made some real progress with this skill today and finished her final training day of the year on a big positive note and a big cuddle with on of her favourite trainers Sam!
