Skill learnt: Trick Training | Comment: For her first session today the trainer wanted to start with some fun and get Opal nice and easy excited for the rest of the day! To do this they took her to the classroom and worked on her new skill of parkour as well as some selfie! Her parkour is coming along well, the trainer was able to raise the board a little more flat today, however being a bulldog she runs out of steam quickly and so the skills was stopped before she got too pooped and wouldn’t work for the rest of the day! So the trainer finished the session off with some selfie training which is another one she loves doing! Awesome first session with Opal today. | Focus: Repetition | B+ |
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down | Comment: For her next session the trainer wanted to progress a few of her basic obedience skills since she has been doing so well with them so tested her off lead in the play pens! This was a big step for Opal as being off lead gives her a lot more freedom in her choices. To start she was very distracted and the trainer needed to use some lures to get her locked on again, however this is understandable as we are starting fresh again in a high distraction area, what the trainer was very pleased with was her ability to recover and get back to where she was before with these skills, even while being in this environment! She will need some more session until the trainer is super happy but she did some great work today and is really impressing the trainer. | Focus: Obedience | C+ |
Skill learnt: Trick Training | Comment: For her last session today the trainer worked on some trick training to end the day on some fun! Last time she was in it seems she was having some trouble with roll over, so this is what they focused on to start with. However the trainer noticed that she wasn’t really that interested in following the lure, so to help entice her towards this the trainer then did a little “spin” training with Opal to get her nice and locked on to the lure, doing something she knows like this makes it easier for her to switch on to the training, once we have her engagement we can then try do the new skill. She made progress today as the trainer was able to get her on her side and then on to her back, but like most bulldogs it’s going to take a little longer to get her to push over her boundary and roll all the way over, even with this she did awesome today and she be nice and fulfilled from todays sessions. | Focus: Foundation | B+ |
