Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Ollie’s first session focused on Loose Lead Walking. He started out full of excitement but soon calmed down to provide good engagement with the trainer and perform the skill really well. We practiced the skill both inside and out with various levels of distractions (dogs and outside environment) and at the end of this session he did not falter. Continue on with this skill in various settings to strengthen his reliability and reduce his level of distraction. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Ollie did drops for his second session, focusing on getting him to drop with increasing levels of excitement around other dogs. He performed well but struggled a bit when the excitement level rose too high. So, we reduced the level to allow him to achieve a positive result. Ollie can practice this at home in a variety of environments and with differing levels of distraction and excitement to achieve reliability and consistency. He did really well. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: Paws up was Ollie’s last skill for session three. We started on a middle of the range wobble board which he was a master at so to extend his skill and experience we move onto a very wobbly board. He got the hang of this really quickly and performed the skill like a trooper. He has good spatial awareness with his back legs and is quite agile. You can continue this skill at home on a whole variety of objects which will work wonders on his confidence. Focus: Repetition A
