Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Oli worked on his emergency drops in the classroom. We practiced done for manners on our way down as Oli was trying to barge his way through. One down in the classroom, we got started on the skill. Oli was very quick to do down into the skill, although finding his loose lead walking and duration in the skill more challenging. We put some repetitions in to the skill, focusing on Duration in the skill. Once Oli was happily walking by his trainer's side, staying down in the skill when asked we then started performing some quick repetitions to test Oli. Oli finished the lesson strong, happily completing the skill. Focus: Obedience B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Oli and his trainer made their way outside with the long lead to practice Oli’s recall. Once outside, Oli was quickly making his way back each time he was called, so we made our way into one of our paddocks to further test Oli. Once in the paddock, all the smells started getting Oli’s attention, with Oli still coming back each time but taking a few seconds each time he found a smell he wanted to sniff rather than competition the skill. As we put more repetition in to the skill, Oli started to come back immediately again. Focus: Distance B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Oli finished off by learning a new skill "weave". The weave skill is where we get Oli to start weaving between our legs as we walk forwards. We do this by using a treat to lure Oli between our legs and around. We then mark yes and pay a treat before continuing again on the other side the same method. Oli was a bit confused at first, trying to go into his middles skill. With some repetition, Oli started following the treat through each time, staying to understand the basics of the skill. Focus: Foundation C+
