Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: In his first session, Oaklee focused on building engagement within the cattery. We focused on this skill to help Oaklee focus on the trainer rather than the environment. Oaklee was initially distracted by the new environment and showed little engagement. Utilising engagement games helped Oaklee redirect his focus, when he made eye contact with the trainer it was marked with yes and the trainer threw a treat. After several repetitions, he was showing good engagement. The trainer was able to begin incorporating his sit skill as well. This is a great tool to use at home when he is having difficulty focusing. Focus: Conditioning B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: In his second session, Oaklee focused on further developing his skill place in a low distracting environment. We focused on this skill to further develop his basic understanding and knowledge of this skill. Oaklee was initially hesitant to walk into the bed, however with some guidance and yummy treats he slowly began to build his confidence. The trainer focused on building his confidence going on and off the bed. As the session progressed he began to walk on and off the bed with a reduced lure. We would recommend practising this skill at home to further build his confidence. Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Sit Comment: In his final session, Oaklee focused on further developing his skill sit while also enjoying some play. We focused on this skill to develop his understanding of the sit as well as conditioning to the classroom and trainers while he is playing. Oaklee loves to play! He was very excited when the trainer began to introduce a toy into his training. While practising his sit Oaklee still requires some luring from the trainer, while playing this lure was increased to assist him in knowing what to do while he was excited. Overall Oaklee performed well and loved his session. Focus: Obedience C+
