Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: In Newman’s first session we trained Around, this skill is a great recall skill and for confidence as well. Newman did really well with this skill still using lures around the cone. Next time slowly decreasing the lures around the cone. Training this skill at home if you have a bed that he sleeps on use that. And put something in front of him about half a meter from the bed lure his nose of the bed and around the cone back on to place, once he turns his body around to walk back to place reward with “yes” and treats. Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: In his second session we trained middles, again this skill is great for confidence and it’s a controlled skill. Newman has trained this skill before he did really well with it. Next session I would love to work on this skill more with him. Training this skill at home have him on lead, lure his body through your legs might needs some pressure on the lead and treats in one hand when he’s through your legs, reward with “yes” and treats. If you can when he’s in the middle of your legs lure his nose up so he looks up at you. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Spin Comment: In his last session we trained spin. This skill is great with confidence and because he has learnt it before we would like to build up on the skill. Newman did great in this skill we were still luring his nose around but towards the end we were decreasing the lures. Next session I would like to work on this more with him to build the skill up till it’s 100%. Training this at home, have him on the lead with one hand have treats in it lure his nose around in a circle until he faces back to you, when he does reward with “yes” and treats. If you think he’s doing really well slowly decrease the lure. Focus: Confidence B+
