Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Sit Comment: Nala began her day meeting another new trainer! She was displaying awesome confidence and took treats from their hand straight away! After a few minutes of the trainer rewarding her outside the kennel run, she went in with Nala and was immediately greeted by kisses. As Nala was doing so well, the trainer decided to see if she would perform some skills and Nala showed off how well her ‘sit’ skill was! It was so awesome to see her engage with the trainer and do as asked. The trainer then attempted to get her into a ‘drop’ skill, but Nala showed no prior knowledge to this and would just paw at the treat, which was quite cute! Instead of pushing her for this new skill, the trainer kept to sits and gave Nala plenty of cuddles in between to help maintain her confidence and focus. Awesome stuff, Nala! Focus: Confidence B+
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Next up, Nala worked on some ‘lead conditioning’ and also had a play for the last 5 minutes of the session. Nala was a little skeptical about the lead, but after a few sniffs and some treats she was fine! The first 10 minutes was focused on her feeling comfortable putting her head in and out of the lead whilst using treats to lure her in and she did fantastic! To reward her awesome work, the trainer had a toy chicken that she threw back and forth for her and it was so good to see her waggy tail and happy smile!! So, so proud of her and her confidence today! Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Exposure Comment: To finish off the day, Nala got out of her kennel run and went on a confidence walk around our facilities and had a wander in our play pen! She was such a happy girl and it was so good to have this moment with her! She loved sniffing all the trees she could find. As this was a confidence walk we were not too fussed on how she walked, just as long as she was happy. Awesome work today Nala, we are so proud to see you coming out of your shell more and more! Focus: Confidence X
