Skill | Comment | We focused on | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down | Comment: For his first session today Moose worked on some drops outside. We practiced getting him really excitable then asking for a drop. He did pretty well with this, we made sure to start with low levels of excitement and slowly increase it with each repetition. Moose worked around another dog and trainer duo, he remained nice and focused on his trainer! This is a great way to practice his drops and building some impulse control. | Focus: Distraction | B |
Skill learnt: Exposure | Comment: This session we all about his calm greetings. We were lucky enough to have some trainers on their break, which meant we could practice walking up to them and around them! He did pretty well when they just stood there but did struggle if they increased their excitement levels and went to pat him. Again, we started off easy and built it up. He did so well, showing good engagement with his trainer and even did some sits/drops with lots of people around him. | Focus: Manners | B |
Skill learnt: Spin | Comment: For his last session we had some fun teaching him spin. For this we used a treat to lure him around in a circle, marking “yes” once 3/4 of the way around and rewarding once he went all the way. We also practiced this while walking along, getting him to spin away from us, then falling back in line to continue walking. This is a great way to change up his loose lead and is a fun thing to incorporate to keep him engaged! | Focus: Foundation | B |
