Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Mooncake started with her recall skill. Her engagement was a bit lacking this lesson as she was working with a new trainer. At first, Mooncake just wanted to cuddle with her trainer but with a few engagement games we got her to start focusing on the task. At this point, moon cake came back consistently and quickly before being lured into a sit in front of her trainer. Focus: Desensitisation B+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: We focused on engagement this lesson, paying Mooncake as soon as she looked at her trainer. Inside the classroom mooncake consistently checked in with her trainer, looking back every 5 seconds. As we continued, Mooncake walked right next to her trainer while engaged so we moved outside. Once outside Mooncake lost all engagement and stopped taking treats. With a bit of repetition we managed to get her focus back on three tasks and she started taking treats again. Mooncake lost her engagement again after a bit of work so we made our way back inside and finished the lesson strongly Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: Mooncake worked on the paws up skill to help her confidence. Paws up is where we get mooncake to put her front two paws up on an object. Mooncake was hesitant at first, not wanting to step on the step. We used a treat lure to get her to put her paw on before marking yes and rewarding. After some repetition, mooncake started jumping up with her front paws consistently so we moved onto a smaller object to give mooncake a bigger challenge. Once again mooncake was unsure, so we focused on just getting her to put one paw on. After some repetition Mooncake was putting a paw on the new, smaller step more consistently Focus: Confidence C+
