|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: In her first session, Montana focused on learning the new skill weave within the classroom using cones. Initially, Montana was a little hesitant to walk through the cones, the trainer spent some time building her confidence. She quickly began to walk through them and follow a lure. She followed a lure well around the cones but still requires this lure. When the trainer began to fade the lure she became confused.||Focus: Foundation||C+|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: In her second session, Montana focused on further developing her Mat skill outside around dog distractions. We focused on this to build her understanding of the skill around a variety of distractions. Montana performed very well, she responds well to the Mat cue and goes onto the bed, she can struggle to hold duration but is progressing well. While outside with another dog nearby she ignored the other dog and remained focused on the trainer.||Focus: Distraction||B+|
|Skill learnt: Recall||Comment: In her final session, Montana focused on further developing her recall by conditioning her to the recall marker 'come' with high-value rewards. Conditioning this marker with high-value treats is important to ensure she understands come means I get paid lots. For her high-value treats, the trainer was rewarding her by allowing her to eat from their treat pouch, only for a brief time. We focused on this to begin building her recall. Montana performed well, she initially showed minimal response to the come command. As the session progressed she began to look at the trainer when the command was spoken.||Focus: Foundation||B|
