Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Mojo began his day with his ‘skateboard’ skill. The trainer worked on Mojo’s duration this session as he had the habit of getting 2 paws on, getting his treat, then stepping off. The trainer helped his duration by having a handful of treats and rewarding him frequently, then throwing the last treat away from him while saying his release word ‘break’, so he knows he is able to step off the board. Keep on working on this at home and it will help him be more confident in staying on the board while it moves! Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: Mojo’s next session was practicing his ‘paws up’ skill, this time focusing on his 2 front paws going on individual pods as the trainer used halloween buckets today, which are a bit smaller and taller. Mojo would comfortably put 2 paws on the same bucket, but would struggle when the second one was introduced. He would often just have 1 paw on 1 bucket, and the other hovering, not quite touching the bucket. Keep trying with this at home, it could just be because these buckets are different a bit more thing (unstable). Awesome efforts though Moj! Focus: Confidence C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: To finish off, Mojo worked on his ‘door manners’ as that is the focus for our dayschool dogs this week! Mojo has impeccable door manners, waits in his controlled position until released, which is exactly what we want. After a few repetitions of this, Mojo practiced his ‘roll over’ skill, where he nailed it!! He follows the lure so much nicer now, so the next step is to slowly start fading it and introducing the hand motion!! Amazing work Mojo! Focus: Manners A
