Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Mojo’s first session today was spent working on his drops at the pony club. We worked on red light green light drops, getting him all excited and then suddenly stop and ask for a drop. Mojo smashed this skill and had lots of fun doing it too! He did forget to drop a couple times so we had to remind him but we made sure only to reward good attempts. Keep pushing his drops in different locations he is doing really well and becomes much more focused when training is fun. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: For his second session today Mojo worked on his middle position. We did lots and lots of repetitions to help him really understand the position. He seems to understand the final position but getting him there still requires a lure. He still gets a bit confused and will come through the wrong way or just stand there looking at the trainer. We worked on luring him around both legs and even from the front a couple times. It’s good to change which way they are doing it so we can generalise the skill as much as possible. Keep working on this one, lots and lots of repetitions are key. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his last session today Mojo got to go back to the pony club to work on his loose lead walking. We utilised the large field so we could do lots of directional changes. Working with direction changes makes Mojo pay attention to the trainers body language, ensuring he doesn’t get trodden on. He did really well with this and had some great focus, we were working with an intermittent schedule of reinforcement, rewarding every now and then for exceptional behaviour. Keep pushing him, he is ready for lots of distractions. Focus: Distraction A
