Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: For Mojos first session we worked on his paws up skill. This skill is good for confidence. Mojo started off doing his paws up onto a solid block. He was nervous to begin with but gained some confidence after a couple of minutes. Once Mojo was more confidence on the solid block we progressed to the inflatable pod. Mojo started off very nervous and was hesitating to even put one paw on. Therefore to begin with Mojo was only asked to put the one paw down and once he became more confident with one we progressed to two. By the end Mojo appeared more confident with his paws up however he still needs to work on building it further by doing paws up regularly. Focus: Confidence X
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Mojos second session we worked on his rollover skill. This skill is good for confidence and concentration. Mojo started off well and was following his lure. He even did 7 in a row. To progress Mojo we started to fade out the lure. Mojo did struggle without using a food lure however there were a few times he did do it! The next step for Mojo will be to continue fading out the lure for his rollover skill. Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Mojos last session we worked on his place skill. This skill is good to allow them to settle around distractions. To begin with Mojo wouldn’t even go near the bed, he’d stop following the lure as soon as it got near the bed. To help Mojo step up onto the bed the trainer first threw treats around the edge of the bed and then slowly worked towards the middle where he would have to step onto the bed. It took about 5 minutes for Mojo to place just one paw onto the bed but after he did he progressed really quickly. By the end of the session Mojo was stepping onto the bed! The next step will be to continue conditioning him to the bed as while he stepped onto it he was still abit hesitant. Focus: Confidence X
