Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his first session we took Mojo outside to work on his loose lead as a refresher. Mojo only got a little distracted a few times but had great focus on the trainer throughout his walk. We threw in spins (which he did fantastic with without a lure), a few drops (he needs a heavier gesture otherwise he just sits) and some inside turns (after getting a bit tangled up the first time he smashed this). Fantastic work by Mojo, he is a joy to walk with and his engagement is perfect. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his second session we worked on Mojo's drops with distractions. Mojo did well in his drops with food and toy distractions. We decided to really test his skill with red light/green light drops - he didn't care much for a tug toy but really loved chasing and playing directly with the trainer so we used that to get him razzed up before asking for drops. The first two drops he was a little slow but then really started improving in his speed. At the end he was dropping right away when asked even when mid run towards the trainer. Next time we'd like to continue pushing his drop while he is in an excitable state as this will really help bomb-proof this skill. At home use the same tactic - get him moving and excitable and then ask for drops. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his last session we continued on Mojo's around skill from last week. This involved the trainer standing between the cone and bed to help Mojo stay on track and just pointing to the cone and saying around with no lure. Mojo did so well with this today! He was a bit slow the first few goes but as he remembered he got much better and was doing it quite smoothly by the end. Next time we will not have the trainer blocking and see if he can go around the cone all by himself! Practice this at home with someone or something blocking between the cone and bed to help him get really good at the foundations first. Focus: Repetition B+
