Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: For his first session today mojo did some confidence boosting and the trainer got him to go through a tunnel! He was not very keen on going through to begin with however when another trainer crawled through the other side to entice him through he finally started to come through! Using this method the trainer got him more and more comfortable going through the tunnel until he was going through all on his own with a little help from some food lures. Focus: Desensitisation B
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: (Vet holds) For his second session the trainer worked on Mojo’s vet holds. Specifically today the trainer focused on his paws, eyes and ears. With some help from food rewards the trainer was able to start getting Mojo to sit still as they checked over his paws and his eyes, the key is to not give in and wait for him to stop wriggling before rewarding him for settling down and being still! The trainer was able to fully check his ears, eyes and even play around with his paws today after establishing he couldn’t pull away, awesome job Mojo! Focus: Conditioning B
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: For his last session the trainer started doing some skateboard but soon found something Mojo was a bit cautious about so the trainer decided to do some confident boosting with him and tackle what he was a little hesitant about. Initially the trainer had what they call the “launch pad” for skateboard which is set up to put up some barriers to help the dog target getting on the board, however mojo was very hesitant to enter this “canyon” of place beds so instead of trying to get him onto the board the trainer got a step and placed it between the two place beds and lured him through. He started very cautious but by the end of the session he was happily walking through the canyon wagging his happy tail! Focus: Desensitisation C+
