Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For the first session the trainer focused on loose lead with Mojo outside. Another dog and trainer were nearby as were gardeners. Initially he was pulling from the kennel and was not engaged well with the trainer. However as the session progressed he did quite well. Although he did get a bit worn out towards the end. Next time the trainer would like to see Mojo engage quicker than he did today. Keep practicing it home with low level distractions. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Mojo's drop was a bit of a struggle to start with. He needed to be lured at first into position and broke once there. The trainer focused on removing the lure and increasing the duration. Once Mojo remembered this again the trainer added in distractions of walking over and around him. Once settled he did well at this. The trainer also found that after giving Mojo pats and cuddles he wasn't inclined to listen again. So the focus went to that and Mojo, despite being a bit revved up was going into the drop position when told. This can be done a home by just getting him to drop at random times. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Mojo's last session was place, He did this while Kong was learning a trick, so there was lots of encouraging noises in the room and Mojo did really well to ignore this and concentrate on his job. The trainer also got out a squeaky toy and Mojo resisted this and stayed on place. (he did enjoy having a play with the toy later though!) The trainer pushed Mojo a bit further by dropping treat nearby. Mojo struggled with this at first but soon progressed to ignoring them. Towards the end of the session the trainer started to introduce Mojo to send to place from a distance. This can be done at home starting near place and gradually increasing the distance that you are telling Mojo to go to place. Focus: Distance C+
