Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Miro worked on this skill with a game of red light, green light. We put Miro on the bed, making him complete the skill. We then released him and used a toy to play a game of tug. Once he is worked up we put him back on place and make him complete the skill again until he settles himself down. This teaches Miro how to regulate his excitement and impulse control. Once on the bed, all the place rules apply again. Miro did very well this lesson, stepping off being his release a few times but spending most of his time in the skill when asked. Focus: Conditioning B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Miro worked in the classroom, focusing on his duration. We put Miro into the skill, although taking a few repetitions for Miro to go into the skill consistently. Once he was in the skill, we added in some distractions and distance to test Miro. Miro would stay down in the skill consistently, getting up early every now and then but with a reminder would continue back in the skill. We then made our way outside to continue testing Miro. Once outside, Miro was very distracted so we needed to go back to basics, luring him down into the skill. By the end of the lesson, Miro was going down into his drop with a lure consistently. Focus: Duration C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Miro ended the day outside working on his engagement. Miro started inside, doing repetitions as he walked next to his trainer. After a bit of time inside, we made our way to the carpark, keeping Miro walking on his loose lead. While inside, Miro was completely engaged as he kept by his trainer but as he made his way out, he completely lost his engagement. At first, Miro had no focus on the task as he pulled ahead. As we put in some more repetition, Miro still found his engagement challenging, although reacting to his trainer’s movements. Focus: Obedience C+
