Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: The trainer started with drops straight away today as she did struggle in the office with the distractions and excitement level. The trainer took Millie into the kennels to push the distraction level with Millie and her drops. She did quite well, considering how stimulating that environment is for Millie, but there is room for improvement. Next time the trainer would like to see Millie dropping on the first command and holding her position longer. Focus: Distraction C
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Loose lead was the focus for Millie's second session. The trainer took her into the main training yard where there was lots of animal smells and droppings. It took Millie quite a while to settle and not try an pull, to get to those smells. As the session progressed Millie's engagement picked up. However, again, next time the trainer would like to see better engagement from Millie in this environment. Focus: Distraction C
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Again Millie was taken to the main training yard for work on place. She started the session well and was holding place with the trainer. When the trainer took off Millie's chain, she lost her focus and started jumping. This prompted time to be spend on and off place while using the flat collar, so Millie learns that the rules apply no matter what equipment is being used. It didn't take long for Millie to work it out and was holding place again. This is something that the trainer will continue to work on with Millie at the next session. Focus: Repetition C
