Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Millie’s first session was loose lead walking. The trainer took her to a part of the property that the machinery had been. So lots of new smells that she really wanted to pull towards. Millie did settle but it was very hard work for her. The trainer out in a few spins and these worked great for getting her attention back. As the trainer got closer to the classroom Millie was walking well!! Focus: Distraction C
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Next up was drops for Millie and she really had a hard time with this today. She wasn’t keen to get in position bad then she wasn’t wanting to hold position. The trainer used Uh-uh a number of times and rewarded more when she held. Once again the closer to the classroom the more she settled and performed better. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Millie’s final session was another focus on drops. This time in the form of red light green light and Millie’s fav reward sticks! She was a bit slow to start with and the drops but it didn’t take long before she was getting every time. Near the end of the session the trainer decided to use the walk back to the kennel as some more drop training but near loud dogs. Again she slipped back and didn’t want to drop or hold the position. The trainer used lots of repetitions and rewards to get drops happening quicker and then uh-uh to get Millie to hold position. It was great progress from the session before! Focus: Repetition C+
