Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Millie’s first session was conditioning to the trainer, classroom and the yes marker. From here the trainer moved onto the place training. Place trainer is an important skill for Millie to learn as it helps with impulse control and assist in preventing jumping. Millie did well with the introduction to this skill and as the session progressed the trainer was able to start to move around the place bed and have Millie remain a on place. Great first session Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: Next up was the confidence course. The confidence course helps dogs get a sense of achievement easily. Millie needed a little encouragement to get started and then she was happy to follow the trainer, or maybe the treats, to get around the course. Millie did a great job and wasn’t to fazed by the obstacles in the course. Focus: Confidence X
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Last session for Millie was drop. A must have skill for Millie to stop that jumping. Millie didn’t appear to have any knowledge of drop and a treat lure was used. Millie was very focused on the food and not really thinking about what she was doing. As the session progressed Millie did start to get in position quicker but she was also still pawing at the trainers hand to get the treat. It was very slow going and another session next time with lots of repetitions is going to go a long way to help Millie make the connection needed. Focus: Repetition D+
