Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Miley’s first session today focused on her grooming conditioning. We new that Miley was going to be a little uncomfortable with this so we used her muzzle and LOTS of treats. Make sure to use her muzzle for lots of different occasions so she doesn’t associate it with just grooming or vet visits. Miley initially wasn’t a fan of the clippers so we started just having them turned on and near her, marking yes and rewarding heavily. We were able to shave her back end down fairly well, there are still a few spots but we didn’t want to push her too far. She did her spin her head quickly a couple times towards the clippers at the start so we increased the treat flow and she got better throughout the session. It’s super important to keep this as positive as possible! Hopefully now that she feels a bit better you can brush her a bit easier, make sure to keep using lots of treats! Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: This session we had some fun with paws up! We went straight into this session after her groom, to help her relax and feel comfortable! Miley showed some prior knowledge of her paws up so we started building some duration before releasing her! Just like any other skill we can increase the time she remains there and build distance or distractions! Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her last session we went outside and practiced her place training. We practiced a mixture of quick repetitions and longer durations. Miley showed the trainer some good engagement, even while working on the lovely grass! Focus: Distraction B+

We recommend your next step should be…
