|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Mila’s first session today was all about her drops with distractions. We worked on these outside near the sheep and alpacas. Mila was quite fixated on them but she held her drop position really well. She would occasionally check in with the trainer which we would reward, eventually we would like her to show more engagement with the trainer. In saying this she did very well to hold her drop position with the temptations.||Focus: Distraction||A|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Mila’s second session today focused on her loose lead walking outside. We did this in the paddock that has just been cleared of leaves, so all the nice smells are just waiting to be sniffed! Mila did really well to ignore most of the piles of leaves and was able to engage with the trainer! The only thing she struggled with was the cars going past, she would sometimes get distracted momentarily. To help with this we would put her in a drop and reward for engagement. She would settle pretty quickly and by the end of the session she couldn’t care less about the traffic!||Focus: Distraction||A|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: Mila’s last session today was focused on another new skill; ring toss. The aim of this skill is to get them to pick up the ring and place is on the pole. To start with we need to teach them how to pick up and drop the ring. To do this we simply present the ring and wait for them to do anything with it. Mila picked the ring up straight away and plonked it near the pole. This is awesome! Most of the session was just getting her to pick it up and drop it, if she dropped it near the pole, even better!||Focus: Foundation||C+|
