Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Mila’s first session was loose lead walking. She was very distracted to start with and even engagement games with food wasn’t enough to get her attention. The trainer started to run and called Mila using a high pitch voice. Continuous change of direction soon had Mila much more engaged. From then her walking was much more engaged. The last couple of minutes of the session the trainer took Mila to the confidence course for a bit of fun. It has been a while since she has been through it and the pool noodles hanging over head made her wary but after that she was great and loved running around it. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Play Comment: Next up for Mila was play and red light green light near the big yards with very noisy dogs. At first Mila was very distracted by the dogs and was pulling and barking. But as the session progressed Mila realised the value in the game over the other dogs and had a great time. By doing this she was able to ignore the other dogs and enjoy the game. Fantastic session for Mila. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Last up for Mila was place. The trainer took her to the bottom driveway where Mila could see the cars as well as other dogs running around. Again it took a little time for Mila to settle into the session but as it continued Mila did a fantastic job of engaging with the trainer and was even able to do a little send to place. Once Mila engages she does a fantastic job. So engagement games and ensuring you are more exciting than anything else will go a long way to help Mila focus. Focus: Distraction B
