Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Sit Comment: Milas first session we trained sit with duration. Now she is very easily distracted as we did have another dog in training as well and the dam flies. With this skill we would lure his nose up with food until he sits once she’s in the position ‘yes’ and reward with food. At first lots of treats then slow them down which will help with her duration, she has along way to go but we all know she will get there. Focus: Duration C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In Milas second session we trained drops with duration. She was distracted at first but when I start asking for drop and if she doesn’t do it I would then put my foot on the lead which we call a foot break, which we do when they either don’t listen so that’s kinda there reminder to listen. She started to engage and do amazing and started listening to me saying drop. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: Milas last session we trained recalls inside. The reason why we start this skill inside is because it’s to distracting outside for dogs and it’s easier to get there attention to re gain it back. Once she becomes better at this skill we will do it outside on a long line. She wasn’t to bad at the skill we call her name once’s she’s nearly at our feet we will say ‘come’ and walk backwards so she understands when we say come she walks to us then we reward her with ‘yes’ and treats. If she’s not distracted throw food past her then call her. We had no distractions in the classroom which helped her to focus. Focus: Repetition B
