Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Mila’s first session was loose lead walking. The trainer got her settled into good walking in the classroom first and then started outside in a very small area. Mila was pulling at first, especially distracted by other dogs. But the trainer kept walking in a small area and changing direction as soon as she pulled. Mila did well but certainly needs more work in this to enable her to focus on the trainer more and less in her surroundings. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Mila’s second session was drops and it didn’t take her long to get back into from yesterday! The trainer was then really able to work on the duration she held the drop for and had Mila working around other dogs for distraction. Mila was breaking position a number of times at the start of the session but with an increase of rewards she started to hold drop better with the trainer making small movements around her. Great work Mila. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Last up was a skill to keep Mila’s brain busy on this hot day. It was ring the bell. Every time Mila touched the bell she got a reward. It wasn’t long before she worked out what she had to do. Then the trainer pushed it further by waiting for Mila to start using her foot to touch the bell. Which by the end of the session she had started to do. Tricks like this are great not only for mental stimulation and enrichment but are great for rainy or hot days when sometimes physical activity is hard. Focus: Repetition C+
