Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Mila’s first session was place. Again she was distracted by the other dogs and she did bark but when she was off place the trainer used the uhuh word and after that Mila settled better. She was more focused on the trainer and the treats. She did get a bit demanding for treats but the trainer ignored this and Mila soon stopped. Her duration in place was much better and the trainer added in more trainer movements. Big arms and jumps etc and although Mila broke a couple of times overall she progressed well. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Next up for Mila was loose lead walking. This was done in the classroom and Mila was once again distracted. The trainer worked in a small area and used treats and Mila started to engage with the trainer much more. Well done Mila. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Last up for Mila was drops. This is an important skill to have as it curbs jumping, is great in emergencies and helps with impulse control. Mila didn’t follow a lure into a drop so the trainer had to lure Mila under the trainers leg to encourage Mila to get in the correct position. It didn’t take long and Mila was following a food lure under the leg and then progressed to following the lure from a standing position. At home use a food lure in front of Mila’s nose and bring it down to between her legs. This we we will continue to work on her drops and build duration. Focus: Repetition C
