|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Mav’s first and second session today was all about obedience at the pony club. The first session focused mainly on loose lead and place training. We walked all around the pony club, he did really well not to pull in front or stop too long to sniff things. We found a tyre that has been filled in so we used this a place since it has very defined edges. Mav was a bit unsure at first but figured out what we were asking after a few repetitions. Mav smashed both of these skills, he does well with all the tempting distractions.||Focus: Distraction||A|
|Skill learnt: Recall||Comment: The second session focused more on his drop skill and recalls. We would ask for a drop randomly, walk around him, step over him and call funny words to try and trick him. He couldn’t care less what the trainer did, he just waited patiently for the next treat. We also worked on his recalls but only on a short lead, we would wait until he got distracted by something smelly and then ask him to come. He did really well with these, it’s good to go back to basics sometimes and rehash some old skills!||Focus: Distraction||A|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: For his last session today Mav worked on his quoits skill. This time we only rewarded him if the ring landed on the base. This seemed to frustrate him a bit but once he figured it out he had a few successes! Keep pushing this trick, he is starting to understand the concept of getting the ring closer to the pole.||Focus: Foundation||C+|
