Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Marley was very nervous today and there were many small sessions throughout the day to help her feel comfortable in this new environment with other people. She wasn’t taking treats at first but as the day progressed she did start to take them. Which indicates she was starting to feel more comfortable. She was nervous around the noises in the classroom and did stop taking treats when the noises were present. At one point the trainer took her outside the classroom as it was getting loud with other dogs. Marley although clearly nervous did a great job outside. She was still jumpy at noises like a drill and around the banging going on with work happening. But she led the way to explore which was great progress. The trainer also took Marley through the confidence course and although nervous at the start she did manage a couple of circuits of the course!! We’ve loved having Marley with us today and looking forward to working further with her to help build her confidence. At home you can help Marley with her yes marker. The word yes is given when Marley does something right. For example. Sit. When she sits on command we say the word yes and give her a treat. The marker needs to be charged whe in means saying the word yes and giving Marley a treat. She doesn’t need to do anything. She just needs to learn that the word yes means a treat. Focus: Desensitisation X
