Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Marley’s first session was shake. She was quite excited and seemed to think spin was the required topic for this session. When she did settle the trainer was able to get Marley to start focusing on what she needed to do. At first Marley was using two paws to try and get food. The trainer rewarded this a couple of times to get Marley close to what she needed to then stopped rewarding until only one paw was offered. This didn’t take long and the trainer then started to fade the lure. Marley was a little hit and miss as she was at time distracted and wasn’t keen to hold the sit. The trainer went back to food in the hand again to help combat the distractions and this did help. Great first session and also cuddles. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Next up was sits and drop duration. Marley did really well with this and was holding duration well. Marley did break when the trainer squatted down near Marley. She did progress and resist the trainer distractions. The trainer pulled out the cans and Marley broke position straight away. The trainer reduced the movement of the cans and Marley was better able to deal with those distractions. Great progress and next time it will be good to have Marley hold position next time those distractions happen. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Last up for Marley was send to place. However as she was breaking place straight away the trainer worked a little on Marley’s duration and as that got better the trainer started to focus on send to place. Starting off not far from place Marley was a little slow on working out what she needed to do. But as the trainer did more repetitions Marley got much better at trotting straight into place. Going forward it will be good to have Marley going to place from further away. Focus: Repetition C+
