Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Ring a Bell Comment: "Marie practiced her 'ring the bell' skill using a bell on the ground that she had to hit with her paw. Marie enthusiastically hit the bell multiple times, even sending it flying across the room. As she consistently hit the bell, we introduced movement around the room, requiring her to come to us to ring it. Marie followed us eagerly, occasionally getting distracted, but quickly refocusing on the task. Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Marie worked on her hold skill, focusing on getting her to take the object complete out of our hand to hold it on her own. At first she would drop it immediately as soon as we let it go. Marie started to take the object in her mouth, holding it for a couple seconds before throwing it to the ground. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Marie went out to the paddock to work on her place skill on a long line. We practiced sending her to the bed from a distance, getting her to go on her own from up to 10 meters away. Marie was cheeky, sniffing smells and ignoring her trainer at first, although after some repetition completed the skill happily. Once she was doing this consistently we started adding in some touch targeting, geting her to come back to us and boop our hand when release to add some fun to the skill. Focus: Distance B
