Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Manny is doing well in the kennels and is eating all his meals and happy to still take treats!! His first session today was a walk. He came across the horse and was very interested but happy to stay back and observe from a distance. One thing that has progressed on these confidence walks is Manny is no longer sitting and showing hesitance in moving forward which is fantastic. He is also showing more affection to the trainer, with leaning in for pats and putting a paw on the trainer for attention!! Focus: Confidence B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Second session was to be drop but Manny really wasn’t keen today so the trainer decided on the trick touch. This is a confidence trick and helps Manny have the confidence to learn to nose boop different things. It was slow progress but he did start to touch the target a number of times for treats. This is easily practiced at home with a wooden spoon or even your hand. As soon as Manny touches it yes and reward him! Focus: Repetition D+
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: Given the second session was a little struggle for Manny , the trainer went for the confidence course for the final session. As soon as he is in the course Manny just went straight around!! It is so good to see! Only trouble is he doesn’t want to have a lead out back on to head out! Cheeky boy. It’s great to see him ‘smiling’ Focus: Repetition X
