Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: In her first session, Macy focused on learning the reward marker yes while conditioning the skill place and another dog in the classroom. We focused on Macy learning the reward marker as this is an important aspect of her communication especially when around other dogs. Macy performed well, she was initially nervous entering the classroom, but with some treats she quickly began to relax and build confidence. Macy was happily taking treats from the trainer; this is how the trainer began to conditioning her reward marker. Simply say the word yes then give Macy a treat. During this session she showed no signs of reactivity towards the other dog. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In her second session, Macy focused on further developing her skill drop while in the classroom (one dog in crate, one dog on place). Macy showed little engagement in this session and struggled to follow a lure. As the session progressed the trainer changed the value of rewards to help motivate her. The trainers determined she loves tennis balls, using the ball she would go into drop. She does struggle with duration when in drop. Focus: Foundation C
Skill learnt: Exposure Comment: In her final session, Macy focused on building her confidence around the pet retreat facility with an exposure walk. Macy performed well, she was initially nervous around strange objects (strange statues) but quickly build confidence with some reference from her trainer. Once she was relaxed, she showed great confidence for the remainder of the walk. Focus: Confidence X
