Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Lupa’s first session was loose lead walking in the kennels. At first she was very distracted as there were other staff going in and out and more dogs visible. The trainer really had to work hard to get Lupa’s focus until about midway through the session. Once she started to focus Lupa did really well ignoring the distractions. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: Lupa’s second session was recalls. The trainer started with Lupa on the long lead and she did a great job coming when called with a bit of lead pressure. As the session progressed Lupa started engaging with the trainer straight away. Near the end of the session the trainer let Lupa off the lead to throw the ball. During this time the trainer got Lupa’s attention and encouraged Lupa to come to the trainer. (Not using the word come until 100% sure Lupa was actually coming to the trainer) Lupa did a fantastic job at this and was responding with some good distractions. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: The final session for Lupa was drop. Once again Lupa struggled with this. The trainer took it back a step to the classroom and then outside and Lupa did improve but it is certainly something the trainers are going to focus on next time with lots of repetitions and slowly bringing distractions back. Focus: Repetition D+

We recommend your next step should be…
