Skill | Comment | We focused on | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) | Comment: For her first session the trainer worked on her loose lead walking! To challenge her around other dogs she was taken through all 3 accomodation kennels today! She was so ready to work when she came out of her accommodation today so it was easy to gain her attention and keep it. There were a few times some of the larger more noisey dogs caught her attention but even then if the trainer kept her moving and asked for her attention she quickly whipped back to the trainer and keeping a nice loose lead. She smashed this first session and the trainer is super impressed. | Focus: Obedience | B |
Skill learnt: Recall | Comment: For her next session the trainer wanted to really push Luna and he recall skill so took her to the play pens and tried some off lead recall. The play pens are a secure locked in area when can test the dogs off lead in a safe environment. She did well with this today, being off lead she has a lot more access to things around her and it did take the trainers efforts to get her focused on them to begin with. However once she was locked on she stayed locked on recalling back to the trainer with ease. To make it easy on her the trainer still stayed relatively close to Luna when asking for a recall and even had to lure her a few time, this is fine! Going back a few steps will help her develop in this new environment and make her development not only better but quicker as well. | Focus: Distraction | C+ |
Skill learnt: Trick Training | Comment: For her final session today the trainer did some trick training in the form of sit pretty! What they noticed about this is that Luna is able to do the skill however doesn’t fully understand the verbal for it and doesn’t have very good duration so this was the focus today. To work on this the trainer made sure they were not too close to Luna so she couldn’t grab on to them for support and for her up in the position. To help with the verbal they started pairing it to the skill and started holding her a little longer before giving her the reward to better her duration. She did really well with this today being able to hold the position on her own with the support of the trainer which was great! | Focus: Duration | C+ |
