Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: (Tunnel) For his first session to help raise some confidence the trainer took him through some tunnel desensitisation. Like most confidence raising activities the trainers focus was on pushing louie out of his comfort zone just a little bit so we can show him what he is really capable of. Today the trainer had him in a drop right in front of the tunnel. To start he didn’t want to go in the tunnel and was avoiding going through a lot. However with the help of some food lures he started venturing in. In true Louie fashion once he had done it once it was a quick progressive process to get him to run through and by the end of the session Louie was full of confidence and running through the tunnel without the need of a lure being thrown in! Focus: Confidence B
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: For his second session the trainer did some more confidence raising and did some stair climbing! However today it was time to push Louie yet again out of his comfort zone and push this skill. So the trainer took Louie into the cattery and had him climb the actual stairs in here! Initially he was a little distracted by the cats but after some engagement games he was good to go. He was able to successfully go up and down the stairs a few times today but he does it very quickly, going forward in other classes the trainer is going to try and slow him down coming down the stairs as a focus point. Focus: Confidence B
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: For his last session the trainer ended on some fun and took Louie to the confidence course and had him run around this a few times. He had done this before so today the trainer wanted to work on getting Louie to do it super quickly. The trainers have a score board of some of the fastest dogs around the confidence course and after a few practise rounds Louie was able to make it on the board today with a score of 11.3 seconds! He did really well today and had a fun and productive day with the trainer who is really happy with his progress he made today. Focus: Duration B+
