Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: The first session for Loki was charging his marker. A yes marker is a word used to reward a dog when they have done the right thing. When the dog sits for example the handler says yes. Then gives a treat. To charge the marker all you do it say yes and give the dog a treat. And it is just repetition. While waiting for the kettle to boil, just say yes and give Loki a treat. Keep repeating this until as soon as he hears the word yes, he whips his head around to get that treat. Loki was very nervous and it took a while for him to take treats. He also didn't want to move far from where he felt comfortable. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Loki's second session it was to be a focus on place (bed), however he was so nervous he didn't want to stray far from where we were sitting doing the marker conditioning. Slowly the trainer worked with he enough to do a bit of place training with him and it was a great start. For the third session the trainer actually continued with the conditioning of the surroundings and the yes marker as well as some place training if Loki was ok with it. Next time the trainer would like to see Loki a bit more relaxed but it was a good first day. Focus: Repetition D+
