Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For her first session the trainer wanted to take it slow with Lilli as she was again a little unsure about the trainer when they collected her from the pet resort accomodation. However taking it nice and slowly the trainer was able to coax her out of her shell very very quickly today, within minutes she had the lead on and was ready to go. To make sure she was nice and focused the trainer took her out for a loose lead walk around the property. About half way through the session the trainer used the new barrier fence to walk Lilli very close to another dog with the fence in between. She couldn’t care less about the other dog walking nicely next to the trainer and even doing her sits and drops on command! An awesome first session from the little lady. Focus: Manners B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For her second session the trainer worked on Lill’s drop skill. Like last time she is still following a lure under the leg however today the trainer noticed a difference in her willingness to follow the lures. Last time the trainer needed to make a trail of treats for her to follow, while this helps with her confidence it makes it hard to mark the skill with a. Verbal command and start progressing it, so today the trainer just got her use to following the single lure through the leg to help be able to progress the skill. It took a while but by the end of the session Lilli was dropping with the help of only a single lure and without the food trail! It’s important to point out that she may return to having to use the food trail for a few more sessions before fully understanding but sessions like today make the progress much easier and quicker each time! Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her last session the trainer worked a bit more on Lilli’s ability to be sent to her place bed. For today the big focus was on increasing her distance. To do this the trainer got an ottoman and started right next to the place bed and after each successful time she went to place the trainer would increase the distance between the bed and the ottoman! By the end of the session Lilli was going to the place bed at the maximum length of her lead! She was awesome today and seems happy to be doing her skills and coming out of the pet resort for the day. Focus: Distance B
