Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: To start off Lexi’s training today we worked on her loose lead walking outside today. She is very engaged with the trainer however when told to drop she does but she doesn’t hold it when the trainer moves slightly. To improve this drops need to to be worked on in a less distracting environment. However her loose lead walking is very good, just a little distracted by people walking bye. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: We worked on Lexi’s place training for her second session today. She knows the verbal cue for place very well and could be sent from a good distance. However, she struggled with staying on it with distractions. The trainer would take a step away from place and she wanted to follow. She was quick to correct herself though. If the trainer stayed still she wouldn’t have the urge to break. She did so well, just need to build up distractions slowly. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: For her last session today we worked on her touch skill. This requires her to touch a target with her nose. For this exercise we used a wooden spoon painted red at one end. She did very well with this and aced it by the end of the session. This can be improved by moving the target further away and at different heights. Focus: Foundation A
