|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: Levi's first session focused on building his impulse control when on place. The trainer had 3 bowls of food in front of the bed, was eating lunch and also throwing kibble on the floor. Occasionally she accidentally (yes.... accidentally...) dropped her own food on the ground. This really tested Levi's impulse control but overall he did really well remaining on bed with the distractions. During the last few minutes of the session the trainer released Levi from bed and allowed him to clean up the treats. From here we also sent him to and from the bed which he surprisingly responded really well to! This shows he understands the skill and knows the quicker he goes to bed, the quicker he will be released to go back to vacuum duty.||Focus: Duration||B+|
|Skill learnt: Sit||Comment: We revisited foundations of sit with Levi today as when the trainer gave him the verbal cue he went into a drop. She tested this a few times and occasionally he sat but when unsure he defaulted to drop. He responded to the cue when a hand signal was used so we revisited his sits with frequent rewarding for the desired behaviour to begin with. Once he was showing a better understanding we changed to an intermittent reinforcement schedule. He still get's a little confused with this position so at home remind him with the hand signal and ask him for the behaviour randomly through out the day. For example, before going through doors, when boiling the kettle, before meals, before getting in the car, etc.||Focus: Repetition||C+|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: We had a bit of fun for his last session today! We did red light green light with his drops to build his speed into the drop as well as impulse control. He struggled with this to begin with but as soon as he started focusing more he was very responsive. To further build his focus the trainer would whisper the commands and he did great with this! Well done Levi! He was very tired after this session so decided to cool down in the fountain.||Focus: Obedience||A|
