Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Session one with Leroy we practiced his skill of Drop. It is known that Leroy has a habit of barking. The trainers aim for this session was to put him into a drop and reward him for his engagement. Through the session the trainer rewarded him for his duration and engagement with other dogs training in the classroom. This would be a big distraction for him, he did well! He did lack engagement some of the time although With frequent rewards he did better. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For session two with Leroy we practiced his skill of place. This will give him a place to be sent to, to calm down. And eventually it can reduce his barking. During this session there were four dogs around training in the classroom. Leroy was being barked at and he didn’t bark/ react at all! This is amazing! For the remainder of the session the trainer worked on his duration with high distractions. Leroy did really well. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For session three with Leroy we worked on his engagement. This skill can be useful when he is barking to redirect his attention to you. The trainer used fritz treats and rolled them infront of him. When Leroy looked back at the trainer he was rewarded with the trainer rolling another one. This was repeated through the session. Leroy struggled with engagement to begin with although he did improve throughout the session. Focus: Conditioning B
