Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: In his first session, Leroy focused on further developing his skill loose lead around the Pet retreat facility and other distractions including dogs and people. Leroy was very excited to be training and initially struggled to show engagement with his trainer. The trainer used his known skill of drop to redirect his focus, this worked well. When engaged Leroy showed a good walking style. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In his second session, Leroy focused on further developing his skill drop under high distractions. We began this session playing red light, green light with Leroy to challenge his drop. Leroy was not interested in the toy or playing at all. To develop his drop the trainer challenged him under high dog distractions (next to the playpen while dog playing inside). Leroy was initially distracted and interested in the dog, however, he redirected his focus quickly and performed well. During this session when he was unsure of what to do Leroy put himself into a drop. This is great, it shows he is beginning to substitute reacting for dropping. Great work Lee Lee. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Muzzle Conditioning Comment: In his final session, Leroy focused on muzzle conditioning while in the classroom with multiple dogs nearby. We focused on this skill to build his confidence around the muzzle. Leroy performed well, he quickly placed his nose into the muzzle when treats were inside. As the session progressed the treats were removed, he continued to place his nose inside. When he performed this behaviour the trainer marked with yes are rewarded outside the middle. Focus: Conditioning C+
