Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: In his first session, Leroy focused on further developing his loose lead walking around the facility. Leroy performed well, he can be distracted at times and pull on the lead but with some guidance from the trainer, he redirected his focus to perform well. He successfully walked past people, dogs and cars. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In his second session, Leroy focused on further developing his drop skill, under both dog and food distractions. We focused on this to build his impulse control and further condition him to dogs. The trainer challenged Leroy with a range of food distractions including throwing food on the floor, placing treats on his paws and leaving it sitting in front of him. Leroy was interested in the treats but did not break his drop. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: In his final session, Leroy focused on further developing his skill rope pull to work toward both rings the bell and wagon pull skills. Leroy performed well, he interacted with the rope quickly, touching it with his nose. After several repetitions, the trainer stopped rewarding this behaviour to encourage him to show different behaviours. Shortly after this, he began to open his mouth onto the rope. This is good progress for Leroy on this skill. Focus: Foundation C+
