|Skill learnt: Sit||Comment: For his first session today we worked on Leo’s sit durations (this is an alternative to drops). He was very focused however his duration whilst in sit needs some work. He would happily go into a sit but would quickly stand back up before being released. To improve this we got him into position, rewarded a couple times and then released him before he had a chance to think about it. By the end of the session we were able to increase the time between rewards and he only broke a couple times. This just needs to be practiced in low distraction environments and he should show quick progress.||Focus: Duration||C+|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: For Leo’s second session today we had him working outside on his loose lead skills. He is really good at this and only pulled a couple times to sniff something. When he did pull we made him do a sit instead and then sniff whatever he wanted. This way he learns that he needs to do something to get what he wants instead of just pulling towards the stimulus. He was really good at loose lead so we walked around one of the paddocks since it was such a nice day! Allowing him to have a good sniff of things so long as he didn’t pull to get to it!||Focus: Distraction||A|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: For his last session today we worked on his place skill. He is very easily distracted by the trainer when the move quickly or even sit down close to the raised bed. To work on this we reduced the distractions slightly and worked slowly towards the end goal. The trainer was able to sit close to the bed and tempt him with treats but he wasn’t allowed to get off until released. He did really well with this today, to work on it further it just needs practice with varying levels of distractions.||Focus: Distraction||B|
We recommend your next step should be…
A: Outstanding (90 – 100%) I understand my training, Neat & Complete! Ready to move on to higher difficulty & distraction
B: Great Work (80-89%) I mostly understand, Almost neat & complete! Needs practice in some areas. Mild distractions
C: Well Done (70-79%) Some good progress. Needs work, but on my way. Still learning. Low distractions.
D: Beginning (60-69%) My journey is just beginning, I don’t understand just yet. Introduction phase. No distraction.
E: Unable to Progress. Needs major focus, seek further options to assist.
X: Not gradable, the focus was on Enrichment, Socialisation & Engagement.
