Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For her first session today we worked on her emergency drops in the cattery. Lady was a little bit distracted to start with but she quickly focused once she realised treats were available. We worked on having her drop even though the trainer kept walking. She did pretty good, although sometimes she was a bit slow to get into position. At one point lady noticed a cat behind one of the doors and had a little bark. We were able to get her into a drop and do some conditioning with her. Anytime she looked at it we said “yes” and rewarded her. Showing her that the cat is a good thing and not bad. She didn’t take long to lose interest which is great, we continued with her drops all around the cattery, circling back to where the cat was. By the end of the session she couldn’t care less about the cat and showed awesome engagement with the trainer. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: For her second session today we practiced Lady’s middle skill but at different positions. The trainer asked her to drop and then positioned themselves side on, almost facing her and even behind her. We made sure to lure her for the more difficult ones first and then tried without a lure. She did super well, a couple times she went through the wrong way but fixed her self and turned around, poking her head back through. Lady is doing well with this, try pushing it further at home by increasing distance while at weird angles! Go Lady! Focus: Repetition A
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: For Lady’s last session today we practiced her “ring the bell” skill. She was so good at this, she rang the bell each time! We did this for a few minutes and then moved onto the wooden spoon. We got her into a sit position, placed the spoon to our side and took a step back. If she broke before we said “touch” we simply said “ah ah” and got her back into position. Lady seemed a little confused at first and didn’t want to break her position but figured out quickly that we were just sending her into another skill! Lady did really well with this so we worked on some random things. This involved luring her onto a stool, which she did with ease. She climbed up and sat down ready for a photo! Lady has great knowledge of these skills so it’s fun to change them up and add new criteria! Focus: Repetition A+

We recommend your next step should be…
