Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Lady’s first session today we worked on her hold skill. We used a piece of hose for this one and simply presented it in front of her and waited for any response. Immediately she started to mouth the hose, we know that she has good knowledge of this skill but still wanted to increase duration. We rewarded her for any attempt that was closer to the end result. She managed to do a few really good ones throughout the session! She held it for approx. 4-5 seconds for the last one, we ended the session on this one as it was a really good attempt! Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Ring a Bell Comment: For Lady’s second session today we did some trick training. We started with her ring the bell skill and then moved onto touching the light with her paw. We chose to do these because of the heat, these don’t require much movement and she was happy laying there doing her tricks! Lady is very good at her tricks, she takes a couple minutes to warm up and get into the swing of it but by rewarding her first few good attempts she has no troubles! Practicing her tricks every now and then is great so she doesn’t forget them! To make these skills harder for her we can send her to the bell/light and increase distractions. Focus: Repetition A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her last session today we started something new! We started to introduce ring toss (quoits), the basics of this skill requires them to pick up the ring and place it on the pole. As they get better we can increase the distance they have to carry it and even increase distractions. We started by just getting her to pick the ring up, since she already knows skills like hold or ring the bell it makes it easier to morph this skills into a new one! She did really well with this, keep working on having her pick it up, the next step is getting her to pick it up and move it closer to the pole! Focus: Foundation C+

We recommend your next step should be…
