|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Lacey began her day practicing her ‘drop’ skill, focusing on building her duration. Lacey follows a lure into a drop very nicely, but once she is reward and the lure is gone, she has the habit of breaking position before released. The trainer would reward her like a pez dispenser when in her drop to help her remain there for a longer period of time. Keep practicing this at home and once she gets the hang of it more, we can lessen the frequency of rewards for her when in a drop! Good work, Lacey.||Focus: Duration||B|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Next up, Lacey worked on her ‘loose lead’ walking inside the classroom with dog distractions. She did SUPER well! Lacey was not phased by the other dog, although her engagement could be better directed on the trainer. This can be done by more frequent rewards when walking to build her checking in. Keep practicing at home! She is a clever cookie!||Focus: Distraction||B|
|Skill learnt: Recall||Comment: To end the day, Lacey practiced her ‘recall’ skill. She had great listening and engagement inside the classroom, but once she was outside it proved to be more difficult for her to focus. To help strengthen her recall, keep practicing in very low level distracting areas (inside preferably) and use a short line to begin with. Once she shows better focus, you can begin to move outside, but still use a short line at first and work your way up to a long line. Let us know how you go at home! She did very well today!||Focus: Distraction||C+|
