Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: In his first session kong focused on further developing his skill quoits within the classroom. We focused on this skill to challenge his problem-solving skills around shaping. Kong performed well, he interacted with the ring quickly when the trainer was holding it, he would touch it with his nose. As he was progressing well the trainer wanted to challenge him by placing the ring on the ground. This was initially challenging for Kong as he wanted to paw at the ring. As the session progressed he began to touch the ring with his nose which the trainer marked with yes and rewarded. Focus: Foundation B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: In his second session, Kong focused on further developing his skill paws up on a new wobble board while also starting to develop his rear end awareness. Kong showed great confidence with the wobble board, quickly placing his two front paws onto it. To begin building his rear end awareness the trainer used spacial pressure (moving towards him) to guide him in taking a side step with his back paws. This worked well, he quickly began to move when the trainer took a step toward him. Focus: Foundation A
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: In his final session, Kong focused on further developing his skills middle within the classroom. We focused on this skill to begin working on his recall and to build engagement. Kong performed well, he required a lure to walk behind the trainer and through their legs. However, after several repetitions, this lure was quickly faded. As he was progressing so well the trainer began to lure him into a sit while in the middle position. Focus: Foundation B
