Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his first session we worked on loose lead in the carpark with drops as Kong had been pulling a little from the kennels. He settled down almost immediately once treats came out and he did really well with his loose lead. His emergency drops were great too - he only went into a sit instead of a drop once. Overall, really great work from Kong! Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his second session we started work on Kong's roll-over skill. Kong was very enthusiastic following the lure but did struggle to understand what was being asked of him. He would try to get up when the lure passed over his back so continued practice of this skill will be key to his understanding. He did manage to get onto his back once during the session which was good and showed just how hard he is trying! Focus: Foundation C
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his last session we worked on drop with Kong alongside door manners. Kong did very well with drops in front of doors and having an emergency drop in a doorway while the trainer kept walking out. He did struggle a little to maintain his drop if the trainer was hidden on the other side of the door (we think he was worried he was missing out on something!). After a few repetitions he was able to hold his drop while the trainer closed the door from the other side and then reopening it after a second. Focus: Distraction B+
