Skill | Comment | We focused on | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) | Comment: We worked next door at the pony oval this session. Practicing his loose lead and drops...but high energy! Between his drop repetitions the trainer got Kong running around, playing with him and getting him really excited then all of a sudden we stopped and asked for a drop! Kong did so well, showing good listening skills and impulse control! This seemed to tire him out quickly so we made sure to do some longer drop durations so he could catch his breath, the trainer made sure to keep moving around him to provide extra distraction. | Focus: Distraction | B+ |
Skill learnt: Spin | Comment: We decided to work in the play pen this session so Kong could practice his skills off lead. Kong was initially quite distracted with all the smells around him but after a minute or so he started to engage with the trainer. We practiced his spins while walking, middles and sit duration! Kong really loved the mixture of skills and showed some great engagement, even while off lead with boarding dogs nearby! Go Kong! | Focus: Distraction | A+ |
Skill learnt: Trick Training | Comment: To finish up we set up quoits in the sunshine. Kong is getting better with this, he managed to get the ring on the pole 4 times this session! Practice makes perfect, one day the penny will drop and he will be placing the ring on the pole each time. For now, keeping rewarding for close attempts and jack-potting the really good attempts! | Focus: Repetition | B |
